    Santa Barbara Bird Sanctuary, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 2004 by Director Jamie McLeod, who recognized the need for a rescue dedicated to unwanted and displaced companion parrot species.

Known for both their startling beauty and surprising intelligence, birds have

been popular household pets for thousands of years. Many have

been captured in the wild while others have been bred and hand-raised. People love them for their ability to sing, to imitate human speech, and even

to act in comical ways.
