Moluccan Cockatoo – Age: Unknown
This very sweet Moluccan cockatoo was abandoned in front of the Santa Barbara Zoo with a note on her cage that said, “Please help me, Doodle.” At that time she had chewed a hole in her chest the size of a golf ball. Because we have no history on her we have no idea how old she is or how long she has been feather picking and mutilating her chest. It took 8 months to heal her wound and we now make her bullet proof jackets lined with Kevlar to prevent her from continuing to mutilate herself. Due to her special needs, she will remain in our forever flock.
